About DessertNearMe
DessertNearMe is an independent guide to dessert shops in US cities — bakeries, ice cream and gelato, donuts, boba, cupcakes, chocolate and candy shops, and dessert bars. It currently covers 15,218 places in 353 cities and towns across 10 metro areas, and we are adding more cities over time.
Our goal is simple: when you want something sweet, show you what is actually nearby with an accurate address, opening hours when they are known, and one tap to get directions.
How we build the guide
Where listings come from
- Overture Maps Foundation places data, which combines sources such as Meta, Microsoft and Foursquare open data. We keep places in dessert categories (bakeries, ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt, donuts, bubble tea, cupcakes, cakes, cookies, chocolate, candy, pie and dessert shops) that the data marks as open or reports with high confidence.
- OpenStreetMap contributors, for opening hours and dietary tags (for example vegan or gluten-free options) where they exist, and for a small number of shops that only appear there.
How often it is updated
Listings are re-checked against the sources on a schedule. Places that disappear from the sources are marked as possibly closed rather than silently deleted. Listings were last checked in Oct 2026.
How shops are ordered
We do not show star ratings or review counts, because we only publish information we can source. City and category pages list local independent shops first, then order shops by how complete their listing is (for example whether they publish hours, a website and a phone number). A chain is a name that appears at four or more locations in our data. This ordering is not a quality ranking or an endorsement.
What we don't do
- We don't invent ratings, reviews, photos or opening hours.
- We don't sell placement in the listings.
- We don't label any shop as safe for allergies or celiac disease. Dietary tags are shown exactly as listed in OpenStreetMap, with a reminder to check with the shop.
- Pages with fewer than 5 shops are kept out of search engines so we don't publish thin pages.
Corrections
Spotted a closed shop, wrong hours or a missing favourite? Send us a correction. If you know OpenStreetMap, fixing the shop there helps every map that uses open data.
